- REBUILDING TO IMPROVE SAFETY -

 
ECHO SUMMIT SIDEHILL VIADUCT Caltrans is conducting traffic safety roadwork to meet current safety standards. Over the lifetime of the bridge, natural wear-and-tear has occurred, necessitating standard repairs. These repairs will help ensure the safety of the bridge and help preserve this beautiful thoroughfare.
 

Traffic Controls Announcements

  • One-way traffic control weekdays at night from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • Beginning Monday, August 12, there will be continuous one-way traffic control throughout the week for excavation work.


Alternate Routes Around Construction

From Sacramento

Take Highway 16 east, to Highway 49 south, to Highway 88 east, to Highway 89 north back to Highway 50 in Meyers; or continue on Highway 50 east through Sacramento to Highway 49 south in Placerville. This alternate route goes through California’s historic Gold Country–past panoramic vineyards, rugged river canyons, gold mines, museums and flower farms. It’s a beautiful way to Tahoe!

From Placerville

Eastbound travelers on Hwy. 50 will be directed off Missouri Flat Road in Placerville to Route Route 49 S, then onto Route 88 E to Route 89 into South Lake Tahoe.

From Reno/Carson City

Take NV-88 S to CA-88 W then onto CA-49 N to US Hwy. 50 into Placerville. Or take CA-49 N to CA-16 W to Hwy. 50 W towards El Dorado Hills/Folsom.

From South Lake Tahoe

Take State Route 89 to State Route 88 W then take CA-49 N to US Hwy. 50 into Placerville or take CA-49 N to CA-16 W to Hwy. 50 W towards El Dorado Hills/Folsom.

From SF & the East Bay

Take Route 88 Eastbount in Stockton to Route 88 S, then on to 89 N into South Lake Tahoe.
